Which newton shoe

Sara on September 30, AND that is what Newtons are designed for, with the retractable front lugs that actually work. Johnnyjohnny from lake balboa, Calif on September 25, I go a half size up for running shoes.

I bought a 9. They look good and they are working well for me these first few days running on a manual treadmill which requires shoes with some grip , jump roping and walking several miles. They feel flat without a dramatic heel to toe drop and they have good cushioning for arch support. They do not have the thick heel, height and bulk ones that many sneakers have. These are great for a more natural movement. Zappos Reviewer on September 02, Zappos Reviewer on August 31, I wear these every day.

They are definitely more of an advanced runner type of sneaker than the Focus - there is less padding on the heel and more on the forefoot. Awesome sneaks! Zappos Reviewer on August 18, Awesome shoe - comfortable and stylish. Unfortunately it was a tad narrow for my feet and a bit narrow when compared to other Newton shoes. Excellent shoe. Very comfortable, will be great for walking and workouts.

Very unhappy with the amount of time it took to receive the shoe. Ordered another shoe from out of town as Zappos did not have my size available and without any expedited shipment arrived 2 days earlier same carrier.

Zappos Reviewer on August 13, Laura from Rosedale on August 01, Best running shoe I've purchased in many years. My only wish is that there were more colors to choose from. Zappos Reviewer on July 27, To this problem, Newton Running may fall back on the well-worn defense that I need time to transition and build up the necessary strength and form to run with the new shoes. But there are two problems with this: 1 the shoes have several design characteristics that directly sabotage the ability to learn good form and 2 building up strength to run incorrectly is undesirable and will eventually lead to new problems down the line.

From watching the videos on the Newton Running home page, I can see why some of the design flaws are incorporate. They are unaware, or at least not engaging with the theory of, how the natural foot actually looks and the necessity to rehabilitate it and provide for a wide toe-box. As Tony has repeatedly demonstrated, the degree of supination and pronation is largely down to your landing and your landing is down to your posture.

Newton running should be commended for putting effort into a certification programme for coaches and form clinics, because education is all-important, but they need to look at the facts they work with another time and reconsider their approach to running shoe design completely.

Unfortunately, having tried a Newton Running shoe and read their website material, the company currently falls short of this expectation.

On balance, it is fair to mention that any traditional running shoe would fare as badly as Newton, or worse, should we review them on these pages.

Unstable and harmful to acquiring correct running technique. Half a star for marketing effort, decent design and low weight of the shoe.

One of the small details that I really appreciated was an insert in the shoebox that I took a picture of and included above. But before I get into that, I want to go over their pros and cons the way I see them. The lugs do promote a neutral running stride without being overly obtrusive.

If you want to give them a try, the best deal seems to be on Amazon where they qualify for free shipping. Check them out here.
